Whose Truth in Advertising?

I noticed in the Columbian (our local newspaper) yesterday that one of the wireless phone companies was advertising “50% off all phones”. I thought, that is a pretty good deal but then I noticed the small print. “Offer available on select phones”. Hmm, what is wrong with this picture? Is it “All phones” or “select phones”?

It seems wrong to me to make a bold claim like that and then have a “just kidding” line in the small print. Shame on you big wireless company — you know who you are. It gives us marketing people a bad name.
