eZineArticles.com — a Good Idea?

I just read an interesting blog about eZineArticles.com by Maria Langer. Maria is the co-author of WordPress 2 which I like a lot although it is becoming slightly out of date now. Here is the link on Amazon — it doesn’t get great reviews but I think they are a little harsh. It helped me WordPress 2 (Visual QuickStart Guide)

Anyway, Maria has written many articles and she decided to submit some of them to eZineArticles.com which is a great way to build website links and establish credibility. Its a valuable marketing technique. It first it worked well for her but over time her articles started appearing on what looked to be porn sites! When you submit articles to eZineArticles you give up some of the rights to your work including permitting other blogs and websites to use the articles (with the proper attribution) but there appears to be no restriction on the kind of website that can do so.

It is something to watch out for if you are interested in publishing but don’t want your work to be associated with a porn site.

You can read more at Maria’s blog.

  1. Thanks for the link to my article.

I want to warn all of your readers NOT to submit to eZineArticles.com. Even though I have removed all four of my articles from that site, they continue to appear on porn and splog sites designed specifically to get hits for the purpose of Google ad revenue. I cannot stop them, I cannot get them removed. And my name is associated with my article each time it appears on one of these sites!

Is this they kind of “credibility” you want to build? I don’t think so. Take my advice: steer clear of eZineAricles.com.

And please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have questions about this. You can use the link in this article to track me down.

  2. Superb blog! Do you have any helpful hints for aspiring writers?
I’m hoping to start my own blog soon but I’m a little lost on everything.

Would you recommend starting with a free platform like WordPress
or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m completely overwhelmed .. Any suggestions? Bless you!

    • Thanks for the comment. Yes I completely would recommend WordPress. It is an excellent platform and there are loads of plug-ins to extend the functionality as well as themes which will change the look of the site. You can sign up for an account at wordpress.com and have them host it for you or you can host it yourself. For that you will need your own domain and website hosting account. Most hosting systems have a script which can automate installing WordPress. It is usually called Fantastico and will install various software of which WordPress is one of them.

I see you are in the process of setting up your site now but it seems to need a bit of work yet! Good luck with it.

As for writing, just write what you enjoy!
